birthday party!

We had a great time at Ethan's 1st birthday party! The theme was orange (Ethan's favorite color) and blue (the color Ethan looks great in) and some pictures too (Ethan has always loved looking at all the pictures we have up around the house). We tried to make it somewhat low key and so had mostly family and a few friends. Both sets of my parents came (from Florida and Minnesota) to help celebrate the occasion too!

And then it was time for birthday cake!
Ethan wasn't quite so sure about it at first.
But once he got a taste of the icing he definitely got the hang of it!

We are not sure how it happened but a whole year has passed and our little man Ethan Matthew Weseloh is now a big one year old! I feel like the last month he has really had some growth spurts - he has started to take steps, is doing some army crawling and is babbling a lot more. Right now his favorite things to do are play with his measuring cups - dropping it on the floor and then crawling to get it and on and on, walking all over the house with the help of mom or dad, and hanging outside on the front porch. At his 12 month check up he was 32.5 inches long and 26 lbs 12 oz. That means that in one year he grew 11 inches and gained 17 lbs 2 oz!

On his birthday day (June 6th) we started off with a birthday stroller run followed by some birthday pancakes.

Later on we met Pete for a birthday lunch followed by our attempt to ride the swings (we were more into it then Ethan).

We ended the day by opening up a few birthday presents.
Ethan really loves ducks right now and so Auntie and Uncle Russell got Ethan a special duck birthday card that Ethan kept squealing over! He even gave a few kisses.
Finally, we had some birthday dinner and a birthday cupcake with Auntie and Uncle Russell!

the baby photo shoot that wasn't

Our attempted baby photo shoot on Memorial Day deserves it's own post. We thought it would be so cute to get some pictures of just the babies but alas, the babies did not agree.

Round One. Even as we tried to get them all seated you can tell it was just not going to go well.

And Round One attempt is over. In the above photo you can see Madison (back right) being picked up by her dad. Meredith (front right) was unfortunately using Madison as her back rest and so...
And so we thought, hey let's try Round Two to see if we can get a good pic. Not really sure what we were thinking but, we tried it again.

Again we did not start off on the right foot.
