let's eat!

Feeding himself is definitely fast becoming Ethan's preferred way to eat! The other thing that Ethan like to do when he is eating is either cross his feet or kick his feet like crazy (you can hear a lot of "pounding" in this video which is the little man kicking his chair).

10 months old!

Ethan is now a big 10 month old! I feel like this past month he has made a lot of strides in a lot of different areas. A few things to note:
-He is still not crawling but rolls all over the place. Sometimes on the hardwood floor he can kind of push himself backward on his tummy. When he is on his tummy he can also sometimes turn his body a bit to reach for a toy.
-His favorite position is still to lay on his back and kick, kick, kick his legs.
-He sits up very well on his own now. Loves to reach for different toys and try and grab anything that catches his interest.
-He is self feeding and really starting to prefer this way to eat.
-Sleep is still going pretty well, most days. He usually falls asleep by 7ish and will sleep until 6ish. Every now and then he'll wake up way early for 2-3 day span at like 4:30am and wants to nurse and then goes back to sleep.
-Still nursing 4 times per day. Still eating breakfast, lunch and dinner but we've added some snacks like cheerios and yogurt melts too. He loves cheese and we just tried some scrambled egg yolk in the last week which he seems to like too.
-His top teeth are still moving on down. The front two are about half way down and a third has just started to cut through.
-Taking assisted steps, which goes something like - step, step, step - and then add in some kind of kicking, dancing craziness, then step, step, step.
-He love, love loves to stand up. He can pull himself up when holding on to our hands.
-He is definitely starting to try and be more vocal about what he wants. His personality is still fairly laid back and chipper but he is starting to do a little more whining when hungry and seems to be more frustrated when he's on the floor - like he wants to move but can't figure out how to do it yet.
-He is loving his board books right now. We will read through the same book probably 10 times in a row several times a day.
-He loves to giggle and laugh.
-He gets really really excited when he sees dad come home, or mom come home or Auntie and Uncle Russell when they come over to visit.

Happy 10 months precious Ethan!

last day in the bugs class

It was Ethan's last day in the Bugs Class at The Little Gym this past Tuesday. We have been taking this free class on Tuesdays ever since Ethan was 4 months old. We sing songs, do some arm and leg "stretching", play with balls, parachutes, bubbles, and even do forward and backward rolls. The class goes up to 10 months and so Ethan is too big to be a Bug now! The next class up is the Birds class but you have to start paying for the class and so we are trying to decide if we want to sign up or not.

Ethan had refused to take his morning nap on Tuesday and so he was what we lovingly refer to as "wired tired" but he still had a fun time. Pete was able to get off work to make it to his class too - Ethan was super excited to see him!

Clapping his hands!
Playing with the parachute - we were lifting it up and down so that the babes could track with their eyes all the bright colors and movement.
Then the babes got to take a little parachute ride!
Practicing his standing while holding on to the bar.

picnic in the park

Last weekend we got to enjoy some of the beautiful weather by having a picnic in the park. Yes, two Sundays ago we got four inches of snow and this past Sunday it was 80 degrees. Welcome to St. Louis.

Anyway, we got a little camera happy and snapped a bunch of pictures of our fun family adventure picnicking in Tower Grove Park.

spitting contest

This is one of Ethan's favorite things to do. Papa likes to make it a spitting contest. Boys will be boys!
